grade 10 (year 11)

Grade 10 was a fun year in high school. I had the opportunities to Iearn subjects to a greater depth with AP classes. This year however was the year when the COVID-19 situation really hit Bangkok, and most of the year was spent online quarantining and doing online schooling. Despite this, I managed to make use of my time doing my CAS at home and at school when there was no quarantine.

creativity - learning to cook

As the lockdown came, a new skill came. During the 2020/21 lockdown, I felt that instead of just staying at home and letting my parents cook for me, I wanted to learn skills and become more indepedent. Of course, cleaning my room would be the first step, but I wanted to take it a step ahead. I decided that I should learn how to cook before I live by myself and move out for university. I started off with scrambled eggs, which at first seemed hard but actually wasn't that bad. With the help of my mom, I was able to make grilled beef with some fried eggs as seen on the left. For a snack, instead of ordrering food and buying food, I decided that I should make my own snacks. I told my dad the ingredients that I needed to get, and with the help of Youtube I was able to make my own grilled cheese sandwich. It tasted really good and I was really proud of myself even though it's not a big thing to cook, but I guess every chef has to start with the easiest things.

action - diving in phuket

During the semester break, my family and I embarked on a diving adventure in Khao Lak Phuket. The area that we were diving in was renowned for the manta ray sightings and also sea turtle sightings. During the dive, my driving instructor and my brother were my diving buddies. We saw pollution in the oceans we were diving in, and it ranged from swimming trunks to fishing nets. Me and my diving instructor took notice of the various bits of rubbish around the diving location, and we made sure to pick up every piece of trash around while observing our natural surroundings.

service - k9 booth

Before the Songkran Break in grade 10, I along with my peers was asked to take control of the booth during a specific period of time. We were selling snacks and shirts, and we were also informing our customers or any passerby about the goal of our booth. It was really fun telling people about the soi dog community in Thailand, and how they need help. I feel that the K9 group has actually helped the soi dog community in Thailand. The proceeds of the booth were donated to a local Thai shelter, which is the CHSA-Thai dog shelter.
