grade 11 (year 12)

Grade 11 was a fun year considering that our lives were slowly transitioning from quarantine into face to face learning. This made it even easier to engage with my friends and teachers as well as learning more through experiences that could only be experienced through physical learning like experiments. It was also the first year of the IB program.

making a piano mashup - creativity

Piano has always been part of my identity, as I have played it since I was 8 years old. I enjoy making music mashups, rather than the conventional way of playing a singular piece. Creating this mashup inspired me to publish it on Youtube, doing so helped me progress my skills in combining different elements of music theory together.

making origami - creativity

It was a joy to make origami as part of a workshop during the last week of school. I have never done origami before and I feel that it was rather challenging in achieving the end product. However, I was able to push on with the help of supervisors of the Japanese club.

going on a bike trip in Bang Krachao island - activity

Another workshop during the last week of school was being able to travel to Bang Krachao island and partake in the cycling activities around the place. It was a really fun and memorable experience riding around the natural park and seeing nature. I had fun times with my friends and teachers who organised this trip, and I felt that this trip developed my ability to overcome uncomfortable obstacles. I had never cycled in 5 years prior to this, and I felt that I would fall when riding around the island, however instincts took over my feelings and it was a breeze in the park.

working out - activity

Working out has been not only a benefit for my physical well-being but my mental well-being. I felt that I needed to workout to focus on my mindset, to be more disciplined, by going to the gym everyday of the week. This helped me remain physically fit, as well as transferring to my education as I became more diligent with my tasks after starting to workout.

mercy centre trip - service

I was privileged to take part in SerWIS's trip to the Mercy Centre, donating items for children in need. At the centre, we partook in various activities with the little children, such as drawing with them, as well as dancing to music. It was an overall wonderful experience, knowing that our donations are important for them, and hopefully more donations can come in the future.

7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

organizing ocean awareness presentations for primary students - service

I felt that the community in my school needed to understand the importance of reducing plastic waste, and how that ends up in our oceans. A first step to this was to teach the younger generation, primary students, on the significance of marine life and plastic, and how reducing plastic waste helps our oceans today. Thus, as the leader of LOL (Love Ocean Life) club, I organised presentations for primary students carried out by members of the club to raise awareness about issues affecting our oceans today. It was a fun experience for the kids and they were interested in learning more about our oceans.
